Advocating nonlethal solutions to human/animal conflicts isn’t “sentimental” – it’s forward-thinking. And it’s backed by real science.
Conflicts create an opportunity for ecologically (and ethically) sustainable and modern, science-based solutions. There exists enterprising solutions that address potential conflicts with both knowledge and morality.
Unfortunately, entrenched, hidebound views persist, especially within the wildlife agency-industry-conservation alliance. Clearly, ammunition and gun manufacturers have every interest in advancing lethal, “mow ‘em down” policy.
To no one’s surprise, the ODNR, Division of Wildlife continue to promote lethal management. The sales pitch instills fear, and portrays wildlife for whom hunting and trapping licenses are sold as pests, reinforcing a 19th century consumptive use philosophy.
Hunting is the past. Currently available nonlethal wildlife technologies and practices are the future. DDOH works to advance this progressive trend, and we encourage you to get involved.

Better representation for the majority of Ohio citizens disenfranchised from wildlife policy;
Modernization of the Ohio Wildlife Council; and
Promotion of legislation that preserves wildlife and habitat, and that challenges an antiquated, self-interest system that values the lives of so-called “game” animals as mere gun fodder
Our mission is to protect Ohio's White Tail Deer, help people learn to coexist with them, and end the senseless cruelty.
We are strongly opposed to the aggressive and barbaric acts being performed by the ODNR (Depart. of Natural Resources Div. of Wildlife) and USDA (US Department of Agriculture) Wildlife Services toward our deer.These government agencies are being aided by the political maneuvering of local politicians, who pander to these special interest agencies. It has become apparent that a war is being waged particularly against the White Tail Deer in Ohio. These state departments have twisted the law and shaped disastrous policies in support of death & persecution. Their kill policies are wrong, inhumane and can be refuted quickly, oftentimes using their own website data and research against them. The general public must become aware of the truth. We will launch a massive campaign across the state on behalf of the precious and peaceful lives of deer, facilitating communication, ideas and awareness.
It's time for all deer defenders to pull together and expose the horrific killings by ODNR & USDA Wildlife Services. Life is precious and time is short. The persecution must stop.
